It’s easy to reserve where2 GPS when you book a car on budget.com, and where2 GPS is available at most Budget locations. And there’s still time to add where2 GPS to an existing reservation.
The where2 GPS navigation notifies you of upcoming traffic snarls and construction tie-ups, and automatically suggests alternative routes. Traffic information is provided by Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network for nearly 100 cities. Based on Garmin's popular new StreetPilot c550, where2 GPS also offers Bluetooth hands-free calling, MP3 playback capability, spoken directions in multiple languages, 3-D maps and more. Next time you visit a new city, you’ll be amazed how easy it is to find that new restaurant you read about, the hotel you’ve always wanted to stay at, and all the attractions the kids have been dreaming of.
where2 GPS navigation is available at most Budget locations. If it’s available, you will see a ‘GPS navigation’ selection option on step 3 of the reservation process when you visit budget.com to reserve your car. And if you already have a reservation, simply visit budget.com, and modify your reservation to add the GPS navigation option. If the option isn’t available at your location, you won’t see it as a selection on the ‘optional equipment’ page and you can simply save your reservation without changes.
Since where2 GPS navigation is a portable system, it can be used with any Budget vehicle. So, whether you’re renting a sporty Ford Mustang or a family-size Explorer, Budget’s where2 GPS can open up a whole new road to adventure!
Today's GPS units are extremely accurate, thanks to their high-sensitivity receivers. However, certain atmospheric factors, including severe weather and other sources of error, can affect the accuracy of GPS receivers. where2 GPS receivers are accurate to within 15 meters (49 feet) 95 percent of the time.
No need to worry – the where2 GPS system is designed for simplicity. It’s only 3.2 inches tall, 4.4 inches wide, and 3 inches in diameter – and weighs less than a pound (0.59). Each where2 unit is simple to operate because it comes with a quick-start guide, easy-to-read user guide, power cord/traffic receiver, and a window suction cup or portable friction mount. It's so easy to use, you won't even need the included quick-start guide (but we've included it just in case).
When you pick up your car, the small and portable where2 system will be handed to you by your rental sales agent, along with an easy-to-read instruction sheet. All you need to do is plug the where2 system into the vehicle’s cigarette lighter, review the simple instructions, and hit the road!
Any time! The where2 GPS system provides Real-Time Traffic information via continuous satellite broadcasts throughout the U.S. And it notifies you of traffic delays before they’re even encountered, and then offers an alternate route. No more wasting time stuck in traffic!
To help ensure your safety, the system is designed to be accessed only when your vehicle is standing still. Just program your desired location before you start driving, and where2 GPS will do the rest! And since the system has a built-in microphone and hands-free Bluetooth technology, you don’t have to take your hands off the wheel while you’re driving.
The where 2 GPS device always must stay with the Budget rental car. So, it needs to returned to the original rental location UNLESS you pre-arrange to return both your car and where2 to a different APPROVED drop-off location. If the unit is dropped off at a location that has not been pre-approved, a where2 drop-off charge of $250 will be applied in addition to any one-way charges that may apply for the car rental itself.
The charge for a lost, stolen or damaged where2 Unit is $449.99.
How to use your where2 GPS system:
If the where2 GPS device prompts you to enter a PIN code into the device, just locate the car rental documentation you received from the Rental Associate. The PIN code is located on the rental agreement document in the left-hand column.
Always keep the where2 GPS device stored in a safe place because you are financially responsible for it. If you choose to keep it in your rental car, remove the where2 device from the dashboard, secure it in its carrying case, and store it under the seat of your car or in the trunk so it's out of view. Temperature extremes will not affect the hardware. Always roll up your windows and lock the doors when your rental vehicle is unattended.
In the event that the where2 unit is lost, damaged or stolen while on rent to the customer, the customer is responsible and will be charged for its replacement cost, which could be as much as $799. Loss Damage Waiver and Personal Accident and Effects Coverage do not cover loss of or damage to the where2 unit.
You’ll find the PIN on your Rental Agreement in the left-hand column labeled “GPS PIN.” Enter the PIN code into the device and it will work properly. If the PIN code can’t be located on the Rental Agreement, please call your rental location at the number listed on your Rental Agreement to get your code.
To search for an address in your where2 GPS device, try these easy tips:
1. First, enter the name of the street you’re searching for without entering any directional indicators or other information. Instead of typing "South Main Street,” just type "Main.”
2. Also try searching multiple cities instead of just one specific city. It’s possible that the system’s mapping data includes similar addresses located in cities or towns other than the address listing you’re using.
It’s easy! Just visit the Garmin Bluetooth Website at garmin.com/bluetooth
To determine if the where2 GPS device is receiving traffic information, just look at the two lights on the cigarette lighter power adapter. The light nearest the end of the plug will be lit GREEN if the unit is receiving external power. The second light will be lit GREEN if the where2 GPS device is receiving traffic information, or it will be lit AMBER if the unit is not receiving any traffic signals. (The GPS device must have satellite acquisition to begin receiving traffic information. Make sure that the signal meter in the top left-hand corner of the Main Menu screen is GREEN in color. If not, just move the device so that it can get a clear view of the sky.) If the light remains AMBER, there’s a chance you may not be located in a city that’s broadcasting a Real-Time Traffic signal. To see a list of the cities that currently broadcast traffic information, just click on "Coverage Map” when you visit the Real-Time Traffic Website at realtimetraffic.net.
